BUNNY YOGA

A "Hopping" Path to Wellness

In today's fast-paced world, stress and anxiety have become all too common, making mindfulness and mental well-being more important than ever. My childhood best friend came to me in 2022 during midterm season and asked if I thought we could incorporating our bunnies into a yoga session she was hosting for a wellness events in her club at university. I thought this was a such a unique idea, so together we brought the bunnies to UBC and it was a hit! Not only did the guests enjoy it, but the bunnies had so much fun as well. They were hopping around the entire time with the occasional "binky", coming up to guests and laying on their yoga mats. We could immediately notice what a positive impact this had on both the students and the bunnies. This is how we started bunny yoga here at The Farm Friends.

Bunny yoga is practice that blends traditional yoga with the soothing presence of rabbits. While yoga itself is well-known for promoting relaxation and mindfulness, adding bunnies to the mix takes the experience to a whole new level of wellness.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that interacting with animals can significantly alleviate stress and anxiety. Pet therapy is commonly used in hospitals, schools, long-term care and mental health programs to help reduce blood pressure, ease symptoms of depression, and promote overall well-being. Rabbits, in particular, are gentle and calming creatures, making them the perfect companions for a mindfulness-focused practice like yoga.

When participating in bunny yoga, participants engage in deep breathing, gentle movements, and present-moment awareness, all while being surrounded by adorable, fluffy companions. The presence of bunnies encourages a sense of joy and relaxation, helping to lower cortisol levels—the hormone responsible for stress. The simple act of stroking a rabbit or watching them hop around can trigger the release of oxytocin, often called the "love hormone," which is associated with feelings of comfort and connection.

Many participants leave our sessions feeling not only physically refreshed but also emotionally uplifted. The shared experience of interacting with the bunnies—whether it's watching their adorable antics or simply soaking in their calming energy—creates an environment of positivity and connection, reducing feelings of loneliness or isolation.

Our rate starts at $220 for bunny yoga sessions. â€‹Contact us today about having bunnies come be apart of your next yoga class!

"On behalf of the KUS Health and Wellness Commitee, we are delighted with our experience with Farm Friends, and their help in making UBC Bunny Yoga a success! Farm friends were great to work with as they were organized, professional and flexible.  On top of that, all of their bunnies were friendly and definitely took the spotlight at our event. We look forward to working with them more in the future!"
