About Us
A Family Tradition of Caring for Animals
Our family has had a hobby farm dating back to 1963 back in Richmond, BC after immigrating to Canada from Croatia. We devote our time, care, and love to ensure our animals receive the best possible care and, most importantly, the chance to live their best lives. Every animal deserves a chance and our priority is to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of these animals.
Rescue, Redemption, and a Second Chance
Our bunnies have all come into our care through a variety of paths: rescued from auction houses, saved from impending slaughter, and taken in from individuals unable to provide them with the ideal care and life they deserve. As a family-run operation with four generations actively involved, we have dedicated ourselves to animal rescue for almost two decades.
A Personal Journey of Healing and Hope
This mission is so personal to me because it comes from my own journey navigating through grief of close friends and family at a young age. In some of the toughest moments, it was the animals who carried me through. We have never shared a conversation, but their actions spoke louder than words ever could. They stayed by my side, comforting me in a way that nothing else could. At the same time, I continued rescuing animals from livestock auctions, just as my grandparents did with me for almost twenty years while they were still alive. They always believed every animal deserved a second chance, and I wanted to honor that legacy.
Many of these animals came to me scared and/or abused. But with patience, love, and care, I watched them transform. They went from skittish and uncertain to confident, happy, and full of life. It was incredible to see their resilience, and in helping them heal, I found healing too. It showed me just how powerful the bond between humans and animals can be. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing this with others. You never know what someone might be going through, but animals have this amazing ability to sense it, to connect, and to bring a kind of comfort and hope that’s hard to put into words.

Why Animal-Assisted Visits?
“Research indicates that interacting with animals can increase feel-good hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, while reducing cortisol (TELUS Health, 2024).” There’s something incredibly special about the quiet, comforting presence of rabbits.
For those struggling with stress, anxiety, grief, or loneliness, the simple act of petting a rabbit can be incredibly soothing. Their soft fur, gentle nature, and calming energy can lower stress levels, ease anxious thoughts, and bring a sense of peace in ways that words often can’t. Studies have shown that animal-assisted therapy can reduce blood pressure, boost mood, and even help with emotional regulation—proving just how powerful these interactions can be¹.
But it’s more than science; it’s about the feeling. It’s about watching a child’s face light up with joy², seeing an elderly person in a care home smile for the first time in weeks³, or giving someone a moment of peace on a tough day. Rabbits have an incredible way of reaching people, offering unconditional comfort in a world that often feels overwhelming.
Studies show that animal-assisted activities, particularly those involving rabbits, can have a measurable impact on children’s self-esteem. By creating a sense of comfort and engagement, these interactions help children feel more confident in themselves. Stronger self-esteem at an early age also plays a key role in healthy development as children grow into adolescence (Kim, 2024).⁴ For children facing emotional or behavioural challenges, animal-assisted therapy can provide comfort and motivation beyond what traditional counselling alone offers. Research shows that planned interactions with animals can be an effective and compassionate complement to traditional counselling approaches (Jalongo, 2022).⁵ Rabbit (Bunny) therapy is also beneficial for children and adults with disabilities, providing a sensory-friendly, comforting experience that fosters connection and emotional well-being.
